Eligibility
Overseas Chinese students currently enrolled at this university (excluding graduate students and those with extended study periods) who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for financial assistance:
- Overseas Chinese students from low-income families who have come to Taiwan to study in accordance with the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students Returning to Taiwan.
- Students from Hong Kong and Macau who have enrolled under the “Regulations Regarding Hong Kong and Macau Residents Studying in Taiwan.
- Applicants whose parents, legal guardians, or spouses have been registered as residents in Taiwan for less than two years.
- Applicants who are recognized as financially disadvantaged based on the following criteria:
(1) Formal overseas financial documents or low-income certification provided by the overseas Chinese student. If necessary, the university may request the Overseas Community Affairs Council for verification.
(2) If the applicant’s parents have settled in Taiwan, a copy of the tax exemption certificate or the household’s annual income statement for the previous year, as verified by the tax authority.Students applying from the second year of study onward must have achieved an average passing grade for the entire previous academic year and a conduct score of at least 80.
Application Period
Applications are accepted during the first semester (Fall Semester); Each academic year from the start of the semester until September 30.
Subsidy Amount
The monthly subsidy amount is determined based on the Ministry of Education’s annual budget for the corresponding fiscal year.
Subsidy Duration
The subsidy is granted from September of the current year to August of the following year. For graduating students, the subsidy ends in June of the graduation year.

- Transfer Students:In addition to the above, a transfer certificate or certificate of study from the previous institution and Academic transcript for the previous academic year or the most recent academic year.

Eligibility
Overseas Chinese students enrolled in the master’s or doctoral programs of the university who have completed at least one semester and meet the following eligibility criteria may apply for the subsidy:
- Overseas Chinese students studying in Taiwan in accordance with the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students Returning to Taiwan”.
- Students from Hong Kong and Macau admitted in accordance with the “Regulations on Students from Hong Kong and Macau Studying in Taiwan”.
Application Period
- Fall Semester: September 15 to October 15
- Spring Semester: March 5 to March 30
Subsidy Amount
Each awarded student will receive a monthly subsidy of no less than NT$10,000.

- Original complete academic transcript (all semesters)
- Recommendation form from the advisor or department supervisor
- Other supporting documents beneficial for the review.

The Taiwan Scholarship is exclusively for foreign students and must be applied for through the overseas mission prior to applying for admission from abroad. Applications cannot be submitted after enrollment.
Types of Scholarships

Important Notes

Scholarship recipients must remain in Taiwan for at least 15 days each month to receive the scholarship for that month. The subsidy period begins from the month the recipient officially starts their studies and continues until the scholarship term expires, or until the recipient graduates, takes a leave of absence, withdraws from the university, or the scholarship is terminated. In cases of leave of absence, early graduation, temporary return to home country due to emergencies, or withdrawal, recipients must notify the university at least one month in advance.

According to the Ministry of Education’s Taiwan Scholarship regulations, applicants who are not enrolled in a fully English-taught program must submit a TOCFL Level 3 (Advanced) certificate. Those who do not submit it must, at their own expense, take the TOCFL Advanced test or an equivalent Mandarin proficiency test within their first semester.

After arriving in Taiwan, scholarship recipients are not allowed to study in other countries as exchange students or as part of dual (joint) degree programs. If recipients participate in an exchange or dual (joint) degree program abroad, the scholarship will be terminated, and the remaining scholarship period cannot be retained or extended.

If a student is required by their program to go abroad for an internship, tuition, miscellaneous fees, and living stipends for that semester and for the period spent outside Taiwan will not be provided.
