Feng Chia team won the honorary award in Innovation & Creative Intelligence Practice Competition

Sponsored by the Taichung Chengde Technology in Education Foundation and co-organized by Feng Chia University, the "2021 Institute of Higher Education Mechatronics Innovation & Creative Intelligence Practice Competition" held an awards ceremony in the Taichung Golden Classic Hotel's main hall on December 6. Under the guidance of Prof. Lin Weilun, the "Stop Needing a Table" team from the Department of Communications Engineering of Feng Chia University won the honorable award for their work "Vehicle Traffic Signal Control System at Smart Intersections". There are a total of more than 300 teams from 50 colleges and universities across Taiwan participating in this competition.

The "Stop Needing a Table" team, under the guidance of Prof. Lin Weilun (1st from the right), won the first prize for their work "Smart Intersection Vehicle Traffic Signal Control System".

The award-winning work "Smart Intersection Vehicle Traffic Signal Control System" mainly captures real-time images through the intersection monitor, uses smart image recognition technology to identify and track special vehicles, and feeds the obtained information back to the relevant traffic number The alarm system makes appropriate alarm responses in real-time, and uses multi-directional sound source recognition to determine the direction of the emergency vehicle’s sound, thereby assisting the safe passage of special vehicles. Finally, the team presents the results by actually establishing the road environment and simulating the operation of the entire system.

The "2021 Institute of Higher Education Mechatronics Innovation & Creative Intelligence Practice Competition" attracted more than 300 teams from 50 colleges and universities across Taiwan.
