FCU Industry Trend Forum invites Chair Professor Sang Huimin to talk about deep learning

AI is a very popular topic in recent years, and deep learning is the most frequently mentioned term in AI. In the second semester of the 109 academic year, Feng Chia University will hold a series of industry trend forums on campus. The first speech on March 25 specially invited Distinguished Professor Sang Huimin from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management of Tsinghua University with the topic of "Deep Learning, Think Before Acting , Through her research on health care and semiconductor wafer defect detection as cases, to share the deep learning and system thinking in artificial intelligence with Fengjia teachers and students.

Professor Sang Huimin has long studied data analysis and artificial intelligence. He has taught at Tsinghua University for 30 years and is an excellent teacher nicknamed "Sang Ma" by students. Our school has hired her as a special lecture professor since the 108th school year. She was once honored with the US Industrial Engineering Doctoral Dissertation Award and the Domestic Ministry of Science and Technology Outstanding Research Award. Professor Sang wrote his 20-year statistical teaching experience as a book "Statistics for Lifetime Use, The Key to Big Data Analysis". His creative teaching method won the Chinese Society of Engineering Education (IEET) Teaching Excellence Award in 2019. In 2020, I began to create a broadcast (Podcast) "One Leaf Knows Autumn, Data Analysis Used in a Lifetime", and the number of listeners exceeded 540,000. I hope to promote the "inspiring wisdom" learning method to Taiwan's academic and industrial circles, and become the teacher of happiness.

Professor Sang first mentioned that artificial intelligence is "computers follow the logic written by humans and complete loyalty." In simple words, deep learning interprets multiple conversions. It requires multiple levels of continuous calculations. According to the previous errors, adjust the weights and rely on logic. Judge and correct the calculation to find the correct solution. Therefore, deep learning is not a new concept. It can be applied to the ancients' "think twice before acting". On the other hand, system thinking is "learning to ask questions". It is not just a practice method, but a practice to define the logic of a problem. This is also the educational philosophy that Professor Sang has been emphasizing, to inspire wisdom instead of propagating texts.

AI is the most important trend in global development today, and of course it is also one of my country's future development momentum. Professor Sang used simple and easy-to-understand words and practical cases to make it easy for the teachers and students to understand the structure of "deep learning" and the importance of system thinking, and to learn a lot of popular science knowledge. Feng Chia University Industry Trend Forum will successively invite well-known experts and scholars to the school to share their academic and research experience and wisdom, so that teachers and students of the school can understand the industry pulse and future development, explore the competitive advantages and potential of Taiwan's industry, and help locate future needs Talent characteristics are also closer to our school's educational goal of "training innovative talents who can participate in the social transformation of industrial upgrading".
